About this Project
The property was formerly vacant land, approximately 4 hectares (10 acres) located in South Whitby. The client wished to cut, fill and compact on-Site material to create a level property grade for the construction of residential homes, roads and parkland.
Site Preparation Process
Fencing was erected around the Site and a water management system consisting of swales, channels, catch basins etc. were constructed prior to the start of the bulk excavation work.
The Site was surveyed and soils that were above the finished grades required for housing, roads and parkland were then excavated, moved, placed, and compacted in areas that were below the desired finished grade, to establish the desired finish grades over the entire property.
Any soils that exceeded the Site regulatory criteria were excavated and shipped off-Site to an approved receiver. Any soils that were considered to be in excess or unsuitable for compaction were excavated and taken to an approved local Site that required fill for re-use.
The Outcome
The project was successfully completed and handed over to the project servicing contractor for the installation of Residential Site services.
