About this Project
The Site required a multi-phase remediation in a restricted work area of less than 800m2. VOC impacts were identified for in situ and ex situ remediation.
Remediation Process
Due to adjacent infrastructure, slide rail shoring was utilized for impacted soil and bedrock excavation. Off-site disposal was facilitated, while slide rail shoring supported a trench measuring approximately 5 meters (m) wide by 30 m long and 8 m deep. Within the shoring, additional trench boxes were placed from 8 mbg to 10 mbgs. Prior to backfilling, a zero valent iron – permeable reactive barrier (ZVI PRB) was installed to mitigate any off-Site travel of groundwater contaminants. Following excavation, a subsurface drilling program commenced for well installations and a complex injection program, designed, plumbed, and maintained by Nexxgen.
The Outcome
Consultant-led groundwater testing was facilitated to ensure impacts were no longer observed.
