About this Project
The Site, a 2,500m2 gas station, was being repurposed for a lease return. Demolition and removal of soil and groundwater petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC) impacts was required.
Remediation Process
This project began with the demolition of a gas bar canopy and the removal of five USTs as well as an oil/water separator. Remediation further entailed the installation on and excavation on of 70 lineal metres of slide rail shoring and underpinning 30 lineal metres of a slab-on-grade storefront. An excavation up to 6 metres below grade was completed in consultation with Environmental Field Technicians, delineating and eliminating soil impacts within the property. During the excavation, an extensive groundwater treatment process was executed, with the design, operation, and compliant discharge sampling completed by Nexxgen.
The Outcome
The property was returned to grade, following the pumping and treatment of 150,000L of contaminated groundwater, and the disposal of 12,000 tonnes of impacted soil.
